I came on Friday to help put up the first ever BMC booth. I brought a suitcase from California full of burlap. We ran around St. Louis purchasing last minute things and began putting up the booth around 8:30 pm. We worked together until the building staff kicked us out. We returned early the next morning to finish up. The booth is inviting and welcoming. Vanessa designed it with an eye towards less material and more conversation. Her idea has been working. Every time I go to the booth it seems to be overflowing with people. Some people stop by to say they are so glad we are there. Others stop by to pick up our material to see if we are saying anything that is against denominational polity. Others who disagree with us stop by for an honest conversation.
Yesterday we had a BMC worship that Shawn, Zandra and I planned. We held it in a nearby church. We invited everyone to carry on the living waters of justice by putting a vial of water around each of their necks. It was a powerful service and appreciate Carol's wisdom calling for this worship.
